Horn’s Legal Representation

Horn’s approach to representing injured persons are predicated on the 8 items listed below:

  1. Legal Consultation

Early legal consultation allows Horn to quickly identify the relevant facts and legal claims to set in place a course of action that leads to a maximum legal recovery. Because providing legal representation to an injured person carries a high ethical responsibility, Horn can only provide legal representation when it will substantially benefit the client.

  1. Handling the Immediate Issues

Right from the start, Horn takes care of the important investigative, legal, insurance, medical, and financial issues that require prompt action, including handling the insurance company claim adjusters.

  1. Securing the Important Evidence

Early legal representation allows Horn to perform legal investigations, take witness statements, and secure important evidence (including photographic/video, electronic, documents, etc.) that support the claims under both state and federal law.

  1. Establishing Liability

Because the foundation of the legal recovery rests on proving liability, Horn’s first priorities are to establish claims against all individuals and entities that have full or contributory fault for causing his client’s injuries, including proof of negligent, careless, or reckless conduct.

  1. Gaining the Upper Hand

The presentation of medical evidence, including expert opinions regarding medical treatment, rehabilitation, and the long-range prognosis, together with the initial case negotiations, is key in positioning the case so that the injured client is fully compensated for all past, present, continuing, and future effects of their traumatic injuries.

  1. Advanced Negotiations

With almost 30 years of legal experience, Horn is highly skilled in advanced negotiations, which are necessary to reach maximum recovery for his client. Advanced negotiations include settlement conferences, mediation, and litigation with top-level insurance claim supervisors and defense attorneys.

  1. Maximizing Recovery

Maximizing client settlements, awards, and recoveries is the objective in every case. This includes client recovery of damages for continuing loss of health and quality of life, which is often the difference between an average settlement and a maximum recovery.

In leading the legal representation, Horn is always ably assisted by his law partner, Laurie Del Percio, and a team of dedicated paralegals, investigators, and assistants.

  1. Highly Rated

In dedicating his career to representing injured people and their families, Horn has been highly rated and reviewed by his clients, earning the public’s trust to deliver top-rate legal representation in personal injury matters.

Horn’s Community Work

During the course of his legal career, which includes participating in hundreds of motor vehicle accident investigations, Horn has gained elevated insights into the driving behaviors that cause vehicular collisions.

Horn has used this legal experience to devote a significant amount of work to the advancement of driver safety, particularly in the areas of teen driver protection, distracted driving prevention, and traffic fatality reduction.

As a driver safety advocate, Horn is a frequent contributor to media outlets, including TV, radio, print, and online, and a regular speaker for schools, parent groups, and civic organizations.

Outside of his law practice, Horn is active in the community by serving and supporting a number of Kansas City charitable and non-profit organizations.

Born and raised in Ohio, Horn earned his B.A. from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, and his J.D. from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to starting Horn Law in 1992, Horn practiced insurance defense and construction law in St. Louis and Kansas City.
