Car Accidents
Message From Doug Horn, Kansas City Injury Lawyer
If you are injured in a car accident, you deserve the best possible medical treatment and rehabilitation, and a fair and full insurance settlement to reimburse you for your damages.
Just like it is necessary to go to a doctor to obtain the best medical care, it is often necessary to see an injury lawyer to obtain the best legal care. You see, unlike a doctor or a lawyer, the insurance company is not working in your best interests. In fact, the Claims Adjuster assigned to your claim is working very hard to adjust and minimize your settlement.
This is the primary reason why legal consultation with a car accident lawyer is vital to putting you on the road to recovery. When you call me, we can talk about your case and determine if legal representation is appropriate. We can also help you with other issues such as car repair or total loss claims, health insurance issues, and a host of other matters pertaining to the car accident.
I am easy to contact and usually quick to respond. We also have close and convenient consultation offices.
Legal Consultation With A Kansas City Car Accident Lawyer
During legal consultation in a car accident injury case, Horn Law will examine 5 different areas:
1. Investigation Issues. We can use the police report or other official reports to determine what type of additional investigation may need to be done. In many cases, we will retain an independent investigator who is trained in crash investigation. Crash investigation is discussed below.
2. Insurance Coverages. The insurance coverages in crash cases can be complex. Not only do we need to determine all of the auto policies that may come into effect, but we also can provide legal consultation related other claims and avenues of recovery.
3. Legal Claims & Avenues of Recovery. We can thoroughly discuss the different legal claims and potential areas of recovery. Often times, this depends on independent investigations of the driver at fault or the owner of the vehicle. Also, your claims and recovery are affected by where the collision occurred and the jurisdiction of the case.
4. Injury Assessment. Although the medical records will form the foundation of the injury assessment, consideration must also be given to the causation of the injury and to securing the medical proof. For example, in a neck injury case, it might be necessary for us to involve a medical expert who can discuss both the short and long-term effects of the neck injury.
5. Initial Case Evaluation. While it is not possible to fully evaluate the claim at the outset, I think it is reasonable to give the client some idea of the ultimate case value. It is at this point that we determine if Horn Law can be of substantial benefit in the claim. I have made it my policy not to accept any case where we can not be of substantial benefit to the client's settlement and recovery.
Kansas City Car Accident Lawyer Crash Investigations
There are a host of issues involved with a crash investigation. Investigation of the accident scene is a priority. Initial investigation may also include taking photographs and video tapes, obtaining 911 and red-light camera recordings, taking witness statements, or inspections of the vehicles involved in the collision.
In some cases, we will retain specially trained crash experts to determine crash speed or other aspects of the collision. Driving records must also be obtained.
It is best if we can perform the crash investigations as early as possible. Thus, we are ready, willing, and able to get to work on your case.
