Why Horn Law?
by Douglas R. Horn, Lead Attorney, The Horn Law Firm P.C.
Some people injured in an accident with minor injuries can settle their claim directly with an insurance company and there is no need for legal representation.
However, in other cases, particularly a case involving longer-term injury or rehabilitation, the need for an experienced personal injury lawyer is painfully obvious.
I handle a wide variety of injury/death cases, including claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, medical/pharmacy error, and other dangerous conditions. I am typically retained in cases where a person has suffered a traumatic injury with short and longer range consequences. My primary job is to maximize the insurance compensation in order that my client’s best interests are served. I also have other responsibilities to help my clients with billing or legal issues related to their case.
I offer free, no-obligation consultations in Kansas City, St. Louis, and across Missouri.
Nearly all cases involve special considerations and I will be happy to provide free advise and consultation in order that you can make the best decisions. Ultimately, you need to recover maximum compensation because this may be your only chance to make a recovery on your injury claim. I offer home and hospital appointments, or I can arrange convenient locations across Missouri in order that we can consult face-to-face.
Beyond injury representation, I can also help with car damage claims and other insurance issues.
Early legal representation gives me a chance to investigate the accident scene, obtain photographs/video, and secure evidence that will make a difference later on. I can also help direct the case in other ways. For instance, it is common for an injured person to receive a call from an insurance claim adjuster who will attempt to explain the claim process and ask for a “recorded statement”.
Don’t let the insurance company get a foot hold in your case.
The insurance company wants a “recorded statement” in order to give them a basis for “adjusting” the claim in their favor. In fact, the insurance company will try and get you to disclose information concerning the accident, your injury, past injuries, your insurance coverages, etc.. Do not be led astray and submit to a statement unless you are represented. Remember, the claims adjusters are paid to “adjust” your claim and the adjuster in your claim receives rewards based upon how well they do their job.
My best advise is not to talk to a claims adjuster until you consult with an attorney well-versed in your type of case.
Selecting a lawyer in an injury case in an important decision. You need a lawyer and law firm that will dedicate their full professional abilities and resources to the case. You can look at our track record and gain some insight into how our efforts have led to successful results, but our track record does not tell the whole story. We have a very dedicated staff, including Laurie DelPercio who is our lead litigation attorney. Laurie is largely responsible for the larger verdicts and litigation settlements at Horn Law and you can read her bio within this site. Laurie is assisted by Litigation Paralegals Jan Shomin and Tammy Miller who both have years of experience in cases involving complex medical. Leesa Dykes and Nina Perry are Administrative Paralegals who make sure we meet high expectations.
